Music

Children are given opportunities both to compose music and to perform it. We aim to develop and extend the children's musical experiences, so they become attentive and discriminating listeners and enthusiastic music makers. Where possible listening to, composing and performing music is closely linked to class topic work. A wide variety of musical activities and resources are provided, including the use of ICT music programmes and a range of percussion instruments, which involve children individually, in groups and as a whole class. Pupils throughout the whole school take part in the preparation and performance of a dramatic/musical production on at least one occasion in the year. Children are encouraged to choose to perform in weekly whole school assemblies, either individually or through orchestral/choral pieces. The whole school also participates in singing assemblies.

Numerous extra curricular musical clubs are on offer, such as recorder club, several choirs, orchestra and a folk band. As children reach an appropriate age, there is also provision for them to receive recorder and piano tuition through a qualified parent as well as violin, clarinet, flute, guitar, drums, saxophone and voice tuition, if they wish, through Fenland Music
